In 2011, astronauts Brian Harper, Jocinda "Jo" Fowler, and newcomer Marcus are on a Space Shuttle mission to repair a satellite. A mysterious swarm of alien technology attacks an orbital ship. Kill Marcus and knock Joe unconscious before digging a tunnel to the lunar surface. Brian, the only witness in the swarm, returns the crippled shuttle back to Earth. But his story was rejected, and he was fired from NASA. Ten years later, conspiracy theorist KC Houseman, who believed the moon was an artificial megastructure, secretly spent time with a research telescope. He found that the moon's orbit was deflected closer to the earth. And tried to share the findings with the disgraced Brian. NASA also discovered the anomaly, but KC made it public on social media. Which led to panic around the world. Jo is now deputy director of NASA, sending a spacecraft on the SLS Block 1 rocket to investigate the anomaly. A horde of the same aliens attacked.
